  Dropped calls constantly. Full service one minute, no service the next. Customer service is awful.
As a business owner, and one who relies heavily on my cellular phone, it was clear in the first week that US could not provide the service I needed. It was a good day, if I could get through one phone call without being dropped, ugh! So when the 1 year contract expired, I signed with another carrier and canceled my US account immediately (in the 13th month). My account had already been automatically rolled over for another 1 year contract, because I did not call within two weeks of the expiration of the original contract, I had to pay US cellular $167.00 to buy out of this 2nd contract. These are the kinds of things you don't remember a year after you sign on the dotted line. Don't make this costly mistake!

  As many people should know, Cellular service is different all across the country. I've read a couple reviews about unsatisfied customers in the midwest, but I can only say that U.S. Cellular's service is the premier service available in the northeast (PA, NY, MA, Conn, RI, VT, NH, ME).
For those who don't know, U.S. Cellular has different customer service headquarters across the nation designated for customers in each specific region. I've dealt with our area's customer service many times and I am very satisfied with them. I rarely use over 100 minutes a month, and when my number was somehow stolen and being used to make calls in Nevada, U.S. Cellular called me to ask if I was placing the calls. They solved the problem before it even started and I was never charged for any Nevada calls.
I once made a payment via check and they mis-entered the amount into their computer and tried to charge me a late fee. I called up, sent a bank statement/check copy to them and they fixed the error within 7 days and even gave me credit towards my next bill for the trouble.

  I have had U.S. Cellular for nearly a year now, and I am mostly happy with it. Call made are for the most part clear with only occasional dropped calls or interference. I have found a strong signal throughout the Chicago area. Voice mails come in when they are sent(I have had a service in the past in which they were delayed by a couple of days).
Customer service is very good. When I came in to have a defective phone fixed they simply replaced my phone with a new one. No hassles. When I called customer service to change my service, again no problems. They made the change without so much as a quibble.
